What is GOB and Where is it used?
A GOB LED Screen stands for Glue on Board LED screen. It is a relatively recent packaging technology designed to solve one of the biggest headaches in the LED display industry: fragile pixels.
Traditional fine-pitch LED screens use SMD (Surface Mounted Device) technology, where tiny, individual LED diodes are soldered onto the surface of a board. These diodes are highly vulnerable to being bumped, scratched, or damaged by moisture.
With GOB technology, after the SMD LEDs are soldered onto the board, the entire module face is coated with an advanced, transparent epoxy glue or resin. This fills the gaps between the diodes and completely seals them. Think of it as putting a high-tech, crystal-clear protective shield over a standard LED screen to make it incredibly durable.
Key Advantages of GOB
Anti-Collision & High Durability: This is the biggest selling point. Because the LEDs are encased in glue, you can literally run your hand across them or accidentally bump them during installation without knocking the pixels off. It’s heavily used for rental displays that are constantly moved.
Waterproof & Dustproof (IP Rated): The sealed surface prevents moisture, dust, and debris from reaching the delicate electrical components.
Wider Viewing Angle & Less Glare: The resin layer acts slightly like a lens, which can improve the contrast and soften the harshness of the light, reducing eye strain for viewers.
Anti-Static: The glue layer isolates the LEDs from static electricity, which can otherwise burn out pixels.
Where is it used
Because of its ruggedness, you will mostly find GOB LED screens in:
Rental & Staging: Where screens are frequently disassembled, packed in flight cases, and reassembled.
Floor LED Displays: Interactive dance floors where people actively walk on the screen.
Retail Displays: Mall or storefront screens that are within arm’s reach of the public.
Our Case
In the application landscape of LED displays, we are accustomed to focusing on grand narratives such as large stages, outdoor advertising, or commercial exhibition halls. However, innovation often arises in those overlooked “gaps”—such as a corridor, a wall, or a quiet space. Recently, we delivered a 6-square-meter P2.6mm GOB wall-mounted LED display to a US client, a prime example of such a “small but profound” application.
Project Overview
- Screen Model: GOB LED Display
- Screen Size: 6sqm
- LED Packaging Technology: GOB
- Pixel Pitch: P2.6mm
- Installation Method: Wall-mounted

P2.6 GOB LED Screen For a Corridor in the United States
This screen was installed on an indoor corridor wall. The limited space and tight pedestrian flow placed stringent requirements on the thickness, security, and image quality of the visual equipment. The client wanted to achieve a “screen-wall integration” effect—the screen was not an addition, but part of the space, a flowing landscape within the tranquility.
We recommended a P2.6mm pixel pitch based on considerations of close-range viewing comfort. At typical viewing distances of 1.5 to 3 meters, the P2.6 delivers sufficiently detailed image quality, achieving near-Full HD resolution in a 6-square-meter area. Whether displaying dynamic art images, environmental information, or brand visual content, it provides an immersive experience without pixelation. Compared to the higher cost of smaller pixel pitch solutions, the P2.6 strikes an ideal balance between image quality and cost-effectiveness.
What truly addresses the core pain points for clients is the deep integration of GOB (Glue on Board) encapsulation technology with a wall-mounted structure. The GOB process completely encapsulates the LED chips and circuitry through overall potting, providing excellent dustproof, moisture-proof, and impact-resistant capabilities. In high-traffic corridor environments, this feature greatly enhances the screen’s daily durability, avoiding the risk of damage from cleaning or accidental touches.
In terms of structural design, we employ an ultra-thin cabinet and a magnetic front maintenance solution, eliminating the need for rear maintenance space and preserving the original building structure, truly achieving an aesthetically pleasing “wall-mounted as if embedded” effect. The installation process is simple and efficient, with all commissioning completed quickly within the project timeline.
Our Advantages
It’s worth mentioning that although this model was a customized product and not in our regular inventory, the project still achieved a rapid response thanks to the efficient supply chain system built by our overseas warehouse in the United States. From order confirmation to module production, quality inspection, international shipping, local customs clearance, and finally delivery and installation, the entire process was seamless. The overseas warehouse not only served as a storage function but also became our logistics hub and technical support outpost in the United States, ensuring that customized products also enjoyed a “quasi-localized” delivery experience. Ultimately, the overall cycle from order placement to activation was far superior to the average level of traditional cross-border customized projects, and the client expressed high satisfaction with the delivery efficiency.
If you are looking for LED display solutions suitable for private or semi-private spaces such as corridors, showrooms, clubhouses, and residences, we provide full-process support from product selection and structural design to localized delivery.
